who we are
The Oregon Society of American Foresters (OSAF) is a division of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), the forestry professional society for the United States of America. The OSAF Foundation was conceived by Merle Lowden, prominent OSAF member, to promote forestry education. It was established by a vote of the members of the OSAF on August 1, 1985. All members of OSAF are members of the Foundation. The Foundation is administered by a Board of Trustees, as directed by the By-laws of the Foundation. The members of the 2007 Board are Eric Geyer (At-large Member), Eric Kranzush (At-large Member and Chair of the Foundation), Tom McLain (treasurer), John Prendergast (OSAF chair), Lori Rasor (secretary), and Lena Tucker (OSAF Past Chair).

osaff vs. foresters' fund
The OSAF Foundation and the Foresters' Fund are separate and unique. The Foresters' Fund is a national program focused on a variety of forestry projects approved and funded by National SAF. In contrast, the OSAFF focuses entirely within Oregon and is directed exclusively at development of future professionals and forestry education in general.
how can i help?
All members of the Oregon Society of American Foresters are also members of the Foundation. So if you are an OSAF member, then you are already involved. You can further help by doing the following:
- Donating money, land, or other assets or bequests made through a will or an estate.
- Making annual cash donations.
- Giving through life insurance.
- Encouraging others to support the Foundation's worthy endeavors.
Determining how you would like to contribute to the Foundation is a personal decision and is often based upon your own particular circumstances, desires, and goals.
The Foundation also seeks the support of corporations, businesses, SAF chapters and members, and non-member donors to help future forestry professionals obtain a quality education and in other ways prepare to serve the forestry profession and further the mission of the Foundation.
Your gift to the OSAF Foundation, through the OSU Foundation, is tax deductible and may have tax advantages. You should consult with a tax specialist to determine the possible tax advantages of your gift.
