2017 OSAF Foresters Day at the Capitol

Friday, May 5, 2017

Oregon State Capitol, Salem

  • Join OSAF members for a day at the Capitol during the 2017 legislative session.
  • Meet and educate your state legislators.
  • Hear from key legislators on forestry issues.
  • Tour the historic building and watch floor sessions and committee hearings.
  • Network with members of Associated Oregon Loggers and the Oregon Small Woodlands Association, who will also be visiting the Capitol on this day.

Agenda

Stop by our booth and check in in the Capitol Galleria anytime between 8:00 am-5:00pm. You can pick up OSAF literature, position statements and the latest publications from the Oregon Forest Resources Institute.  Our booth will also display the winners of the “FORESTRY IN FOCUS” image contest, co-sponsored by SAF.

SAF members are welcome to join the Oregon Small Woodlands Association (OSWA) for coffee and doughnuts in Room 50, starting at 8:00 am where key legislators will visit throughout the morning.

You are free to do as you wish during your day at the capitol. The legislature will be in session that day, with committee meetings throughout the day, and usually floor sessions in both the House and Senate. If you let your legislators know that you are attending, you may receive special recognition from the floor! Capitol staff also provides guided tours. If weather permits, they can lead you on a tower tour, where you can visit the Oregon Pioneer atop the Capitol up close and personal!

If you would like to meet with your own legislators, we encourage you to call your State Representative and/or State Senator to make an appointment ahead of time. Legislators and their staff usually go out of their way to accommodate visiting constituents.  Contact information for your legislators can be found online at https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/FindYourLegislator/leg-districts.html

Join us for at NOON for a brown bag lunch (generously provided by Associated Oregon Loggers) in ROOM 50, the basement of the Capitol. State Senator Betsy Johnson is scheduled to be our lunch speaker.  Space is limited, so please RSVP to nick@healthyforests.org so we know you will attend our lunch.
