to advance forest science, technology, practice, education, and a conservation ethic to benefit society

chapters: admiralty inlet

Chapter Meeting: Saturday, June 18
Where: Jane and Jerry Proutt's home, 671 Middlepoint Road, Port Townsend
Time: 4:30pm
Program: This is our annual picnic. It will be hosted by Jane and Jerry. Jane says to bring what you want to cook on the barbeque and a potluck salad or dessert. Also bring beer or wine for your own consumption. If you don't care for Dixie plates and plastic flatware, bring your own table service. Plan to be outdoors (unless it's raining). Wear or bring a warm jacket. Also bring or wear sunglasses.
Directions: Coming into Port Townsend from the south (via State Route 20 or State Route 19), stay on Route 20 to Jacob Miller Road (about two miles north from the Courtesy Ford car agency). Turn left on Jacob Miller Road and cross Discovery Road (where there is a red blinker light) and go about two miles to Hastings Avenue. Turn left onto Hastings and go one mile to Middlepoint Road

WARNING: Not East Middlepoint Road - go by it. Middlepoint Road is just beyond the three mile marker. Turn right onto Middlepoint (this is a very hard, sharp right turn). Go 6/10 mile (past Haada Laas) to 671 Middlepoint. Turn left and go down a long driveway (1/4 mile). The Proutt's house is the only house there - lots of parking. If lost, call 379.1759.

notes

The woodcutting party scheduled for May 21 was cancelled due to lack of a market.

Ian Hanna of Northwest Natural Resource Group spoke on certification programs as handled by his organization. NNRG's program brings together multiple landowners under a group certificate approved by the Forest Stewardship Council. (Quoted from article in Western Forester.)
